The VitaDAO Longevity Fellowship is aimed at distributing need-based micro grants to help students and early career stage individuals with interest in longevity get more deeply involved in longevity. This is aimed at activities ranging from short term research to attending a conference, or joining a program such as the Longevity Biotech Fellowship.
Background
The VitaDAO Longevity Fellowship was started as a public good effort to support students and other early career individuals to pursue their interest in longevity. The benefits for the fellows are apparent with fast grants of up to 65,000 to date for exploring longevity related research or attending professional meetings and conferences (no strings attached donation). Application process is made as easy and simple as possible and the main selection criteria is a short description of how the applicant would use the funds and benefit from them. Previous rounds of this fellowship were enabled by our generous donors from our Gitcoin project “Longevity Fellowship Grants” (including generous matching by Vitalik Buterin, alongside Stefan George, and many others) or VitaDAO donations.
Aims, Hypothesis & Results
The Fellowship is aimed at deepening the interest in longevity, or potentially even driving a career pivot, for students and early career researchers. This is achieved by microgrants, mostly used by fellows to attend conferences, visit collaborators labs or do small scale research in an area of interest.
So far the program results have been apparent with $65,000+ of funds distributed and 65+ fellows funded.
